This dread is pervasive
What's beyond it, unseen
who is captive and captor?
I realise; both me.
And yet, one must adapt
To their corner of hell
And carve out some solace
While locked in one's cell
And you'll tell me your troubles
So wild and carefree
This internalised nightmare
Belongs only to me
Best kept in a place
Where outsiders can't see
And insiders don't notice
All the lies that flow free
My muse is my frustration,
Guilt and dread, rolled into one
With my battle armour ready
Into nothingness I run
Hear the boredom calling
We search, and implore
when the things you used to love
don't bring catharsis anymore
